I’m a former alternative weekly editor, magazine veteran, and writer based in Scottsville, Virginia. Before moving to the South, I grew up in Yakima, Washington. I spent a year as a Rotary Exchange Student in Finland, attended the College of Charleston, and made a two-year foray to Vermont while my husband was in grad school. Needless to say, my interests are as varied as my past addresses. Whether it's a deep dive into Batteaux boating on the James River or writing social media copy, if you agree with Ernest Hemingway that "there is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed," hire me to do it instead.

When I'm not writing and editing, you can find me reading cookbooks or visiting historic sites with my history teacher husband and seven-year-old son.
